Technology
Elite Foot & Ankle is proud to introduce the latest technology for more efficient and effective delivery of patient care.
Digital X-Rays
Elite Foot & Ankle uses the 20/20 digital X-ray system specifically designed for taking digital X-rays of the foot & ankle. The X-rays taken are immediate and clear. They can also be shown immediately to each of the treatment rooms.
Digital Scan Gait Pressure Plate
Elite Foot & Ankle uses the FootMaxx gait pressure scan plate for evaluation of weight bearing pressures. This is a great educational tool through color coding that visually shows patients where pressure distributions are loaded on their feet. Patients can then better understand why there is pain and the underlying reason of approach in treating the pain. The results of the scan may also be used to design and make the appropriate custom orthotic for the patient.
MLS Laser Therapy
Elite Foot & Ankle is proud to introduce the Multiwave Locked System (MLS) Laser Therapy system to the practice. This system is FDA approved for the treatment of various foot & ankle injuries and ailments. Extensive research in prominent institutions around the country including Harvard University has touted its effectiveness in treating pain and inflammation. MLS Laser therapy is commonly used to treat tendon and ligament injuries, muscle strains/sprains/tears, sore muscles and joints, degenerative joint conditions, neurological pain, chronic non-healing wounds, general pain, and other conditions. It is also used for the care of patients who had already undergone surgery and is now recovering from post-operative pain and/or swelling. MLS Laser therapy increases blood flow, increases metabolic activity, accelerates angiogenesis, improves nerve function, reduces fibrous tissue formation, and increases normal cellular activity. The treatment lasts 10-15 minutes for each session and does not require any local anesthesia. Patients are scheduled for 6-12 treatments with 3 treatments per week. MLS Laser therapy is an effective non-invasive technology to treat foot & ankle injuries. It is also used by professional sports teams such as the Dallas Cowboys and Cleveland Cavaliers.
VST MyoDynamic Therapy
This is an electrically powered device intended to contract muscles repeatedly by passing electrical currents through electrodes contacting the affected body area. This is usually used during the post-operative care after foot & ankle surgery. It is used primarily for preventing or retarding disuse muscle atrophy, maintaining or increasing range of motion, increasing local blood circulation, and relaxing muscle spasms. It is also effective in addressing post-operative swelling of the foot & ankle.
PAD (Peripheral Arterial Disease)
This is used to evaluate for any peripheral vascular disease of the lower extremities that may affect the foot & ankle in patients having significant risk factors. Diabetic patients are specifically targeted for evaluation since their risk for PVD is higher than the average population. PAD testing is used on patients with the following conditions: High cholesterol, Hypertension, Having sedentary lifestyle, Obesity, History of smoking, History of coronary artery disease, History of cerebral vascular accident, and Ischemic changes with or without open wound to the foot & ankle. Sometimes pedal pulses are difficult to palpate; therefore, PAD testing is used to provide further evaluation of the quality of blood flow to the digits. Depending on the results and severity of PAD, the patient may be referred to a vascular specialist for further evaluation and possible intervention to improve blood flow.
PinPointe Laser
The PinPointe Laser is a pulsed Nd: Yag laser device that uses a proprietary pulse train operating at 1064mm wavelength with 100msec pulses. Since 2010, it has received FDA clearance for the treatment of onychomycosis (nail fungus). This laser technology uses a specifically designed laser beam that goes through the nail to kill fungal pathogens and safely reduces the infection in the nail bed that causes onychomycosis. Treatment with PinPointe Laser does not require any use of medication or anesthesia. Advantages of PinPointe Laser include good safety without any side effects, nail and skin are not harmed, footwear may be worn immediately, and it is highly effective.
